Jacqueline Fernandez - On her way to Fame
Who would not know Jacqueline Fernandez? An award-winning actress, beauty queen and a kind-hearted citizen who is willing to spare some time just to help those who are in need. That’s Jackie! Her life on and off screen is just simply glamorous.
Born to a Sri Lankan dad Elroy Fernandez and Malaysian mom Kim, Jackie was blessed with three siblings - one older sister and two brothers. Her family transferred to Bahrain when she was still so young and has spent most of her school days there. After finishing school in Bahrain, she was later offered a scholarship at the University of Sydney for which she accepted. She took up Media and Communications and also joined the school of languages in Berlitz as urged by her passion in language and culture. She learned Spanish language and honed her Arabic and French as well.
On March 2006, Jacqueline Fernandez was reigned Ms. Sri Lanka for the 2006 Ms. Universe pageant. This subsequently led her to represent Sri Lanka in Los Angeles for which she was unfortunately unplaced. Though she won no crown in the Ms. Universe, this has somehow opened great opportunities for her. She started receiving modeling offers from India where she also got picked for a Bollywood film. She also penetrated the world of television where she worked as an anchorwoman. Aside from that, she also writes a column for a national publication weekly.
Amidst her busy schedule, Jacqueline Fernandez still finds time to help the underprivileged. She runs a non-profit organization that focuses on empowering the unfortunate in Sri Lanka - a great deed that really needs to be acknowledged!
In 2009, Jackie made a starting mark in Bollywood through her debut film Aladin, a fantasy movie opposite R. Deshmukh. On the following year, she again appeared opposite Deshmukh in the 2010 romantic comedy film Jaane Kahan Se Aayi Hai. To boot, she also had a cameo appearance in ‘Houseful’ which also became a hit. It was at this time when Jackie almost gave up being an actress since good roles were not offered to her.
However, luck seems to have trudged back to her way again. Jacqueline Fernandez made her third film ‘Murder 2’ which turned out a hit at the box office. This film actually gave a big boost in her career as she then started receiving offers from huge production houses. She declined many roles after the success of such movie to avoid being categorized as sex symbol. By the way, Jackie is included in the top 50 ‘2011 Most Desirable Women’ where she ranked number 7.
